I ran across the above “motivational Poster” and I was struck with this.  There are so many bad steriotypes out there about Americans as it is.  Laziness didn’t used to be one of them.  In fact we used to be scorned because we didn’t have patience and we’d rush to get something done.  But lately it seems I’ve seen more and more snide comments relating to this issue.

Now That isn’t the only bad image that people have of American’s.  We’ve come off as bullies, paranoid, quick to judge, over-weight, hypocritical, and oh yeah assholes.  Visiting elsewhere I’ve had friends mention they throw in the occasional “eh” and pretned to be Candian.  I’ve also had a few friends note that most frustrations are related to our current president and hope that with the elections the respect will come back.  I always reply I’ll be doing my best to vote wisely. But it made me think…

As a nation have we just let ourselves slip?  Do we just not give a shit anymore? Or are we so blind that we look over our issues and assume the other nations are jealous/exagerating?  Or is it as a Nation we are wanting to become the Isolationists that, what I thought was a small group of extremists, are pushing for us to become.

It seems that no matter who is chosen president there will be someone vehemently opposed and it also seems those same people year after year tell me “I don’t vote, after all it doesn’t matter what I think.”  THAT’S BULLSHIT!  I always point out how close some elections have gone… but what hasn’t helped was the last election getting decided by a judge.  That seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for them.  Instead they are bitter and they complain.  We’re given the freedom to vote, and choose who we want.  And occasionally that works.  In theory that works…

OK, I’m off my soap box, I just ran across one too many of these posters…
