As a second generation American and being about 75% Irish I look forward to St. Patrick’s day. Now, that said I didn’t realize it wasn’t an official National Holiday. And damnit, if we can officially celebrate the beating of the French by the Mexicans way back when and yet St. Pat driving the snakes out of Ireland and a holiday that is actually celebrated over in Ireland (unlike Cinco de Mayo) isn’t an Official Holiday here. Well in years past petitions have been raised, and it hasn’t gone all the way. Well now Guinness is sponsoring another petition.
With nine times more Irish-Americans in this country then there are people in all of Ireland, never before has the Irish Spirit been so alive. Come St. Patrick’s Day that spirit is even more pronounced as everyone reveals a little bit of their Irish side. From the camaraderie in the streets to the joy pulsating in their hearts, people from all nationalities and backgrounds bask in the glory that is Irish.
So will you sign yet another petition. After all you signed to keep Sanjaya in American Idol…
