When you think of Stephen Colbert, what do you think?  Pundit? Talk Show Host?  Funny Person?  Good Straight Man?

You think of many things, but I’m pretty sure that American Hero wasn’t one of them.  Well he wanted to change that opinion…

Thanks ImageshackPseudo-pundit Stephen Colbert might give officials at the Smithsonian a “Tip of the Hat,” rather than a “Wag of the Finger” for going along with one of his gags.

After a week of arm twisting by the Comedy Central star, Colbert’s likeness now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery — temporarily.

Colbert began campaigning for a place in the Smithsonian last week in a series of segments on his show, “The Colbert Report.”

He strapped a digital image on canvas onto his back to visit museums on the National Mall.

After being rejected by the Museum of American History, he finally made an impression on officials at the National Portrait Gallery.

The museum agreed to give him a limited six-week showing — right between the bathrooms near the “America’s Presidents” exhibit. Museum officials say that’s an “appropriate place.”

I’ve got to wonder.  After 6 weeks will there be so much traffic for it, that they keep it up? Will it come down exactly at 6 weeks to be replaced with a portrait Boss Teed?
