1208071630aHere are some quick pictures I took of an accident at Redwood & Solano here in Napa. A woman lost control and plowed into a gas pump quickly creating a good sized fire.

Full set of 15 Photos of Fire

UPDATE: A little bit more info. The lady was unconscious, but was gotten safely out of there by some citizens. Also everyone was safely evacuated across the street. As the fire raged it looked like it caught the pump next to it on fire… and the car was slowly devoured by the fire. The sound of tires popping filled the air sparaticly. As the fire fighters arrived and started to put out the fire, it flared up one time making me think the gas tank in the car must of popped. But soon they had drenched the area and as other fire fighters arrived they got control of the fire itself and the flame ups stopped happening.

I’m sorry to say I didn’t stay around to watch the mop up. But the lady got safely into the Piner Ambulance and the car was looking pretty skeletonal… but out.

Update (12/9): The Napa Valley Register finally came out with a very brief (and no picture) article.

  1. I was right there when it happened to….totally crazy that you got these pictures up so fast….

  2. I was already prepping to leave when it happened, so I snapped a few, made sure the fire truck could get to the station (stood in the middle of the road so the idiots wanting to continue driving past the fire would stop.) And then stopped at home, uploaded them quick and went out to do some Christmas Shopping.

  3. Quick Question… How did you happen on the fact I had posted them?

  4. When you come across something like this, don’t hesitate to email the pics in to the Register, as we can’t be at every place when something happens. By early 2008 we’ll have the ability for people to directly upload their pics, like these, right on to the newspaper’s Web site.

  5. I actually looked on your website first to see where to submit it… but there wasn’t an obvious place or contact person to send it too. (I had submitted them too CNN’s iReport instead)
