C|Net is pitting the new Intel Core Duo Mac Mini against Microsoft Media Center. The first round of the fight concludes: ‘The Mac Mini automatically recognised the LCD TV we’re using, and the third-party tuner was similarly straightforward to set up. Compared to the hours we’ve spent coaxing similar results out of a Microsoft Media Center system, the Mini is definitely ahead so far.

After playing with various Windows and Linux (MythTV) answers to a PVR.  I was trying to debate making my own verses getting a TiVo.  The service TiVO provides is so good that it’s a hard act to beat.  Wel I ran acrossed this C|Net article where they compared two package ways to roll your own Media PC, with a result I expected.

Apple with it’s focus on user interface and “being easy” offers a very easy (and believe or not) affordable way to have a media PC that records/does live TV and plays all your media.
